Short Bio

Trent E Balius is a Scientist at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research where he leads the computational chemistry team. His research focuses on developing and using computational techniques to improve therapeutics to combat human disease with a focus on RAS cancer targets as part of the RAS Initiative . Trent did his postdoctoral work in the Shoichet Laboratory, within Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) (and for a year at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at University of Toronto ). In 2012, he received his PhD from Stony Brook University studying Computational Biology in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics under the direction of Robert C Rizzo. Trent graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg (UPG) with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics in 2006. Trent grew up in Frederick County, Maryland and returned home after years away.
